Chairman of Bhasani Perished and founder of Public Health Center. Jafrullah Choudhary has gone to Britain. He left Dhaka's Hazard Shah Jalal International Airport on Friday morning for the United Kingdom on a Bangladesh flight with his wife Shireen Hoque and son Banish Hasan Chowdhury.
According to a source close to Jafarullah Chowdhury's family, he has flown to London with his family to attend the convocation of his son Barish Hasan Chowdhury at the University of Essex in the United Kingdom. Jafrulla Chowdhury is not in the program because of traveling abroad to protest the rise in the prices of goods and due to the strike called by the Left Democratic Alliance on March 26 to save the people of the country. A source close to Zafarulla's family said that he is unlikely to return to the country in the next three weeks.
However, Zafarullah Choudhary on Thursday staged a sit-in in support of the strike in front of the National Press Club. Later under his leadership a hunger strike was organized in support of the strike of 26 March. When the Left Democratic Alliance called for a strike at a press conference on 11 March, Zafarullah Chowdhury expressed his support for the strike on the same day. Later, various parties and organizations including Mahmudur Rahman Manna's Citizen Oikya, the late Qazi Zafar Ahmed's Jatiya Party, Syed Muhammad Ibrahim's Bangladesh Welfare Party, Gana Adhikar Parishad, Bhasani followers, Rashtra Sanskar Andolan expressed their support for the strike. When asked about this, Jonaid Saki, chief coordinator of the Left Democratic Alliance's ally Gana Sanghati Andolan, told Prothom Aalo, "I didn't know that he (Jafrullah Chowdhury) would go out when we announced the strike. Because we told him Didn't talk and didn't give a strike programme. I came to know later that he had decided to go to London a long time ago.' Jonaid Saki said, Jafarullah Chaudhary is not a leader of any political party, he does not do politics. As a freedom fighter and a senior citizen of the country, he has been playing an active role in various issues for the welfare of the country and the people. He also supported the strike called to protest the rise in commodity prices.
Jafrullah Chowdhury went to bring the award
In a statement sent to the media in the evening, Jafarullah Chowdhury's press advisor Jahangir Alam said, "The Trustee of the Public Health Center, Jafrullah Choudhary has gone to London to receive the NRB award. Voice for Global Bangladeshi, a London-based organization of overseas Bangladeshi professionals, is presenting the award on the occasion of the Golden Jubilee of Independence. The award will be presented in the UK House of Commons at noon on 29 March. Former UK Finance Minister and current Member of Parliament Stephen Teems will be the chief guest at the event. According to the notification, Jafrulla Chowdhury will return to Bangladesh on April 16. During his stay in London, he will address various expatriate meetings and international seminars on health.
